When people think of glamour many of us immediately think of 1940s – 1950s Hollywoood. Knowing this, I didn’t want to do the classic femme fetale 1940s waves, red lipstick, cat eye, voluptuous look for our third issue photo shoot. I knew that I wanted it to include both male and female fashion and I was leaning toward black and white but that’s pretty much all I knew. Perhaps subconsciously the decision to fashion the shoot in the style of the early 1960s was a tribute to the final season of Mad Men. Perhaps I just really have a thing for beehives. Whatever the reason, we decided on a studio shoot with very film noir lighting and some Hollywood props with some amazing 60s clothes.
I couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out. Huge thank you to my photographer Will and models Madeline and Alistair – literally couldn’t have done it without you. And also to my wonderful mother who helped out with hair and make-up and was on hand for authenticity checks! Here’s some out takes and behind the scenes shots. To see the finished spread be sure to grab a copy of Issue Three which you can buy from our online store.
